about

Emileigh Rohn (US/ Chiasm) and Jean-Marc Lederman (Belgium/ The Weathermen, Ghost & Writer,...) join up to create this new night dream electronic collaboration for your insomniac ears.

Rohn’s soothing voice yet jarring message combined with Lederman’s accomplished, eclectic instrumentation lift spirits to an unworldly state.

“Venus Chariot” is the music equivalent of an open wound: a strong, unique, bold, and an emotive record showing vulnerability and a totally fragile and honest exposure of feelings scanning through fear, hope, and loneliness, questioning, and Love.

ER: I first met Jean-Marc through a collaboration for his Letters to Gods album released in 2020, and was just flabbergasted by his creativity. He has this ability to really pull the best out of an artist and recompose around them to bring all the best subtleties to light. I immediately found his process intriguing and unique. We decided to experiment with a few more tracks and discovered that we also work together seamlessly. I can’t say I’ve ever found anyone so boundlessly inspiring. I’ve learned so much and can’t wait for our musical journey to continue.

JML: When you work with a singer/lyricist/composer as talented as Emileigh, it is essential to be open and be ready to adapt the music to swerve along with the words and the melodies she sends you back after hearing the song's original skeleton.
This is why some of the songs were even totally transformed to blend more with what Emileigh expressed: it was a thrilling experience and quite a ride as we had decided to break all rules and traveled via various styles, moods, and sounds without much care for anything except going as far as possible to the core of our feelings and ideas.
I think we achieved here a beautiful album that transcends our musical roots and niche: sit down, whatever is your music of preference, and enjoy the experience, just like we did.

Emileigh Rohn

Emileigh Rohn is known mostly for her electronic solo project Chiasm, which has kept her musically occupied for over 20 years. More recently, she completed an album with John Fryer titled “Missed The Noise”, and since has been working with Jean-Marc Lederman on this project. She also plans to continue her solo work in the near future.

ER about VC: I am just in awe of what we’ve created in such a short period. It’s so open and honest feeling, exactly what we needed to express during a time that the world was closed. I’m ecstatic to share this with others, we did great!

Jean-Marc Lederman

Mild-mannered Belgian music composer, Jean-Marc Lederman has been working with the likes of Fad Gadget, The The, Gene Loves Jezebel but mainly with his own bands like The Weathermen (with their underground hit “Poison”) or Ghost & Writer (with Frank Spinath from Seabound). He is working as well in the fields of movies and video games.

JML about VC: This is without a doubt the most poignant and aching record I ever worked on and I’m very proud of what Emileigh and myself have achieved together.
